A Festive Weekend: 311 Evolves Into Pow Wow (Westwood One, Rip Read And Rock)

Today is the day many 311 fans have been waiting for. The official kickoff of the 311 Pow Wow Festival takes place today at the Spirit Of Suwanee Park in Florida. The three-day event is a massive undertaking, but after years of support from the fans, it’s something the band wanted to test out. “It was either crazy ambition or foolishness,” laughs singer Nick Hexum. “I think it’s going to be really good because we’re offering something that fans have been wanting to see. They’ve been asking for a long time to hear ‘Transistor’ in its entirety. And we’ve been aware of festivals and been part of a few of them.” Bassist P-Nut says this is just a natural next step after the overwhelming success of 3-11 Day over the years and more recently their sold out 311 Cruise. The weekend features not only multiple sets from 311 and a performance of their “Transistor album, but also performances from Sublime With Rome, Deftones, G. Love & Special Sauce, The Dirty Heads, Reel Big Fish, Mix Master Mike, Ozomatli and many more. (see CLIPS)
