311 and Sublime with Rome to be at Utah's Usana Amphitheatre this summer (Salt Lake City Tribune)

On Aug. 17, 311 (above) will return to Usana Amphitheatre for this summer's "Unity Tour 2011."

Sublime with Rome will join the tour this year.

311 vocalist Nick Hexum said in a press release: "Summer Unity in full effect! We're thrilled that Sublime with Rome is on the 2011 Unity Tour. 311 & Sublime with Rome seems like the perfect outdoor summer party. The 311 Nation is growing stronger every day and we're excited to see you all at the shows!"

Sublime with Rome singer/guitarist Rome said in the release: “We’re so excited to hit the US with 311. We’ll have our album out and will be playing new original songs alongside the fan favorites. This will be an epic tour that will forever be remembered. Can't wait for summer!”

Sublime with Rome, comprised of drummer Bud Gaugh and bass player Eric Wilson – both founding members of the legendary ska-punk band, Sublime – alongside singer/guitarist Rome, are currently in the studio with producer Paul Lear working on their highly anticipated debut album, due out this summer.

311, Sublime with Rome unify for summer tour (SoundSpike)

Nebraska alt-rockers 311 will take to the road this summer on their yearly "Unity Tour," this time with support from Sublime with Rome.

The two-month journey begins July 8 in Bonner Springs, KS, and crisscrosses the nation, touching down in 30 cities from coast to coast. The major market amphitheater run wraps up Aug. 26 in the Seattle area.

This excursion will support 311's forthcoming album, which is still untitled and expected to hit shelves this summer. The outfit unleashed their most recent effort, "Uplifter," in 2009, though the performances will also include hits from their previous discography as well.

Sublime with Rome, comprised of original Sublime members Bud Gaugh (drums) and Eric Wilson (bass) with newcomer Rome (vocals/guitar), is currently hard at work on the new configuration's debut studio album. Producer Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers, Meat Puppets), who handled Sublime's eponymous 1996 hit album, is on board for the effort, which is also due out this summer.

In previous years, 311's "Unity Tour" has featured Snoop Dogg, The Roots, Matisyahu and The Offspring, among others.

311 Announces Tour And Festival (RTT)

Rockers 311 have confirmed a full lineup of summer tour dates across the U.S. and South America. Many shows on the run will include support slots from Sublime with Rome.

The tour kicks off on March 30 at the Explanada del Monumental in Lima, Peru and will run through August 26 when they'll hit the Marymoor Theater in Seattle, Washington.

In addition to the long-running tour, 311 has also announced their very own summer festival. The Pow Wow Festival will take place between August 4 and 6 at the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. The fest will include multiple headlining sets by 311 plus a host of other bands.

311 & Sublime With Rome Announces New Tour (Ultimate-Guitar)

After finishing recording their new album 311 has announced the 2011 Summer Unity tour, which will feature Sublime With Rome (in all but 3 shows)and "special guests" which will vary with each venue.

The tour will span July 6 to August 27, coast to coast and will feature the "311 Pow Wow Festival" smack dab in the middle. 311 says that, "It's going to be the ultimate outdoor summer party!" and they have shown many times in the past that they can deliver on that promise!

Sublime with Rome will not be present in Wichita, KS (7/6) and a TBA date on 8/27. The 3rd date at which Sublime with Rome will not appear has yet to be announced, but it will be one of the unannounced dates because all other dates are confirmed to feature Sublime with Rome.

The 311 Pow Wow festival will be "311's first ever multi-day music festival!
The festival will feature two stages with great bands playing day and night!" and will be held at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park; a 500 acre park and campground along the Suwannee River, in northern Florida. 311 will play 4 sets (2 on Friday and 2 on Saturday). And for the first time ever, 311 will play their album Transistor in its entirety! So far, the only confirmed bands that will play alongside 311 at the Pow Wow Festival are Sublime and the Dirty Heads.

311 bassist P-Nut added: "This is the tour we've been waiting for!"
After years of incessant touring, 311 have developed a reputation as one of the most entertaining live bands in the U.S. Their celebratory live shows & dynamic recordings have earned them a massive grassroots following and a catalog of modern rock hits, including "Down," "All Mixed Up," "Amber," "Come Original," "Beautiful Disaster," and "Love Song." 311 will be touring in support of a new album (due out this summer), produced by Bob Rock.
Sublime with Rome, comprised of drummer Bud Gaugh and bass player Eric Wilson -- both founding members of the legendary ska-punk band, Sublime -- alongside gifted singer/guitarist Rome, are currently in the studio with producer Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers, Sublime, Meat Puppets) working on their highly anticipated debut album, due out this summer. Sublime with Rome first came together in 2009 for a series of high-profile shows before embarking on a worldwide headline tour that drew packed houses and rave reviews at every stop, as well as an electrifying national television performance on the outdoor stage at ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Having recently signed with Fueled By Ramen, Sublime with Rome carries on the legacy of Sublime -- without question one of the most successful and influential ska-punk bands of all time achieving worldwide sales in excess of 17 million, fueled by radio smashes as "Date Rape," "What I Got," and "Santeria" -- while also carving out its own place in the musical landscape. Though a relative newcomer, 22-year old Rome has already scored a bona fide hit of his own, co-writing and lending his distinctive voice to The Dirty Heads' recent #1 modern rock hit, "Lay Me Down."

311 Teams With Sublime With Rome For ‘Unity Tour’ (Pollstar)

Both bands have new albums coming out this summer, making the run even more interesting with plenty of new music as well as fan favorites. Beginning July 8 outside Kansas City at Bonner Springs’ Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone July 8, the two-month tour also includes stops at just about every major shed in the U.S., including the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights, Mo. (July 9), DTE Energy Music Theatre north of Detroit in Clarkston, Mich. (July 13), Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati (July 16), Nikon At Jones Beach Amphitheatre in Wantagh, N.Y. (July 22), Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Va., near Washington D.C. (July 29) and the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif. (Aug. 23.) Last stop on the routing is Redmond, Wash., at the Marymoor Amphitheatre Aug. 26.

The tour will also play the brand spanking new multi-day event called the Pow Wow Festival in Live Oak, Fla., at the Suwannee Music Park. While the festival is scheduled for Aug. 4-6, 311 will appear Aug. 5-6 and for the very first time will play the Transistor album from start to finish.

“Unity Tour” tickets for select markets go on sale beginning March 26. For more information, visit 311.com and SublimeWithRome.com.

311 launches festival, tours with Sublime with Rome (Consquence of Sound)

Following the path of other summer touring favorites like Phish, the Disco Biscuits, and the Dave Matthews Band, 311 will be curating their very own festival in 2011. The band’s Pow Wow festival will take place between August 4th and 6th at Suwanee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida, aka the home of both the Wanee and Bear Creek music festivals. The event will feature two stages and four 311 sets, including a performance of Transistor in its entirety. A complete list of acts has not yet been announced, but will roll out sometime in the next few weeks.

Along with the festival, 311 have plotted out dates for their annual “Unity Tour.” Featuring fellow frat-house favorites Sublime with Rome in support, the tour begins July 6th in Wichita, KS, and then sees the band run up the midwest with stops in St. Louis, MO, Chicago, IL, and Detroit, MI, Columbus, OH, and Cincinnati, OH After closing out July with performances across the northeast, 311 will make their way south on their way Pow Wow. They’ll then turn west for dates across Texas, Denver, Salt Lake, and hazy California before concluding August 27th with a yet-to-be announced performance somewhere in the Northwest.

The entirely itinerary can be found below, with a few dates remaining for TBA performances. A fan pre-sale begins March 23rd, and Pow Wow tickets can be secured via SeatGeek.com. Additional ticketing information can be found at 311.com.

Happy 311 Day (This Week's Obsession)

Happy 311 Day everybody! What? You never heard of 311 Day? Awesome! Then I get to inform you. One of the greatest bands of all-time, 311, has been rocking shows and wowing audiences for decades. With their seamless blend of rock, reggae, metal, hip-hop, funk, jazz, and acoustic styles, 311 has released 14 Billboard-charting albums, 4 full-length DVDs, 8 top-5 singles, 2 No. 1 singles, and one of the most loyal followings since The Grateful Dead.

Many years ago, the Mayor of New Orleans proclaimed March 11 officially “311-Day” and they’ve been celebrating the day ever since with landmark, top-selling, and even record-breaking Birthday Concerts (its also the birthday of my cat).

This year, 311 once again broke new ground by celebrating 311-Day on March 3rd, 2011 (3-3-11) on a Caribbean Cruise for 4 straight days of ROCK! To go with all the trimmings of a normal vacation cruise, you’re treated to 2 live shows from 311, Pepper, and DJ Soulman, an in-depth Q&A, setlists created by fan request, and individual photo sessions with the band.

311 is one of the rare breed of bands that play with a level of musicianship beyond any American rock band intricate enough to have the sound of 5 different bands in one. Yet, they fuse unparalleled talent with pop sensibilities making it appealing to the average rock fan. Thats why, after 20 years, no ones done anticipating new music year after year while more and more bands are influenced by them.

It's 311 Day! Caribbean Cruise Recap (LA Weekly)

There is no doubt 311's fan base aboard the Caribbean Cruise to Turks and Caicos grew last weekend, thanks to the 24-hour all-you-can-eat buffet and all-inclusive restaurants aboard the Carnival Destiny, where 311 and 3,000 fans from all 50 U.S. states and 13 countries partied hard for four days at sea.

Members of 311 stood on their balconies, welcoming fans as they boarded the ship.

311 kicked off their first onboard concert as the ship was leaving the Port of Miami.

The setlist included "Slinky" and "Tribute," as well as rarities like "Jupiter" and "Guns (are for pussies)," which was last played on June 15, 2000.

Afterward, fans returned to their cabins to find some sweet 311 swag next to their origami towel animal and Carnival chocolates. In addition to receiving nifty 311 luggage tags in the mail a week prior to the ship's sail date, everyone onboard was given a free beach towel with a large 311 anchor logo printed on it and a navy blue 311 Caribbean Cruise bag. Despite the free gifts, fans flocked to the merch store, where the entire allocated stock of onboard 311 tee shirts sold out within a few hours.

Four fans traveled from as far as Australia to attend the cruise, whose onboard population was primarily from California (275 fans). Puerto Rico and Vermont tied with the lowest amount of fans represented, each only producing one fan.

Celebfan Venus Williams was spotted singing a Black Eyed Peas song during one of the late-night karaoke sessions aboard the ship.

Williams also entered the 311 Karaoke contest judged by 311 frontman Nick Hexum, where she and three friends sang "You Wouldn't Believe" and even added a bit of choreography.

Although William's performance was well-received, she lost the contest to a fellow 311 fan.

One fan jumped on the opportunity to sell a video of Williams' performance to TMZ.com.

Two fans, who met at the 311 fan party in Miami one night prior to boarding the cruise, got hitched when they reached Grand Turk. Luckily, for their families' sake, their marriage is not recognized in the United States.

Some fans decorated their cabin doors, while others decorated themselves, in attempt to be more memorable.

There was a plethora of creative, homemade 311 shirts and accessories. The most identifiable was the 311 cheerleader duo, who wore matching 311 cheerleader uniforms for the majority of the trip, complete with pom-poms, sparkly high ponytails and color-coordinated ribbons.

The duo even sported identical black 311 bikinis while on Grand Turk. Not sure whether a natural aversion to cheerleaders prevented us from finding this attention stunt to be more clever than creepy.

The guy with a beach towel from dicktowel.com wrapped around his waist also caught a lot of attention (and laughs).

Another memorable character was the fan who dressed like Bernie from Weekend at Bernie's and dragged his feet across the Lido deck.

Creative costuming was no match for the most-mentioned person aboard the ship--a brazen fan who is lucky to be alive after jumping from his level six balcony while the ship was docked in Grand Turk.

The jumper suffered minor leg and back injuries but was able to swim to shore, where he was admitted to a hospital, then flown home, missing his scheduled 311 concert aboard the ship.

Most fans booked excursions like snorkeling and horseback riding while on Grand Turk, while others relaxed in the turquoise waters of the Atlantic or wiped out on Flowrider, a simulated surfing experience.

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville was a popular hangout, where fans chilling at the poolside bar at chanted "311, 3, 3, 11!" every time the resident DJ spun a non-311 song.

Sixthman, a cruise coordinating firm and activity committee, was the perfect host to 311's eclectic, and at times rowdy, crowd.

Jason T. Walters of Tears of Joy was spotted mingling with fans in the Singles Party.

Sixthman organized onboard activities like Beers & Bingo, 311 Trivia, canonball and belly flop contests, flip cup and ping pong tournaments, Rockband and Guitar Hero sessions, and morning yoga with Full Service's frontman Bonesaw.

311 fans were able to cash in with $1311 and $600 prizes during Beers & Bingo and, according to Andy Levine of Sixthman, one fan won $32,000 while playing Blackjack in the onboard casino.

Although fans were split into halves and assigned a particular indoor concert inside the ship's intimate Palladium stage, some managed to sneak into both shows.

Fans attending night one's show were most excited to hear "Uncalm," "I'll be here a while," "Don't Stay Home," "Random" and "Sun Come Through." While fans attending night two's show were most happy with "Gap," "Rub a dub," "Stealing Happy Hours," "Use of Time" and "Mindspin."

Fans attending night two's show also had the opportunity to see a extremely rare debut performance of "Coda," a bonus track from 311's album Evolver.

Attendees of the show can thank Ronald, the fan who prompted the impromptu performance by constantly shouting "CODA!" during PNUT's extended bass solo.

PNUT responded with "OK," removed his ear buds and knelt down at center stage, where he performed a song many only dreamed of seeing live.

Each show was simulcast in ship's Criterion Lounge, where fans sang, danced, cheered and chanted for an encore, as if they were in front of the real deal.

Most fans felt night two's setlist was far superior to night one's setlist.

One ungrateful female fan went so far as parading around in a homemade shirt that said "I got fucked on the 311 cruise... because I was at night one."

This experience should teach those given the option of back-to-back shows to always opt for night two (DUH).

In addition to two 311 concerts, fans aboard the cruise were able to attend multiple shows of Pepper, DJ Soulman, Pato Banton, The Expendables, The Movement, Full Service and Trailer Park Ninjas.

Comedians Doug Benson and Graham Elwood performed two nights of comedy. Benson was spotted cruising the 6th floor, which was blanketed by a constant cloud of marijuana smoke for the majority of the trip.

311 fans were able to interact with their heroes during scheduled events like a DJ set spun by SA Martinez and a basketball game against 311's biggest Lakers fan, PNUT.

Selected fans were able to ask questions during a Q&A session with the band.

When asked how many 311 love-babies were thought to have been produced aboard the ship, Chad Sexton responded with "Three hundred and eleven."

Fans were eager to ask about the future of the band, since the majority of its members are now proud fathers.

PNUT reassured fans that "[311 will keep making music] as long as people keep inventing ears."

After announcing fans can expect another 311 Cruise in the future, 311 debuted two songs, "Wild Nights" and "Time Bomb", from their upcoming album.

The most awesome opportunity aboard the ship was the photo op with the band, where attendees were able to have a professional portrait shot with their cabin mates and the entire band. Once on land, fans were able to download high resolution files of their 311 portrait.

Fans were rushed off the stage by event coordinators who literally pushed people past the band after the photo was taken, but in those thirty brief, unforgettable seconds, every member of 311 reached out to shake the hands of their fans and say a personal thank you.

Members of 311, except Hexum who stayed in Florida to vacation on his private island in Summerland Key, immediately flew back to Los Angeles after the ship docked in Miami.

If you missed out on the biggest 311 event to date, don't worry--there's always next year. 311 members and Sixthman have already confirmed another 311 Cruise will set sail in the future. Start a 311 Cruise fund now!

If you're still feeling famished for a 311 sandwich, another epic 311 event is right around the corner.

311 will host its first multi-day music and camping festival--The Pow Wow Festival--at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in northern Florida, where 311 will play four sets, including the album Transistor in its entirety.

Tickets for this event go on sale TODAY. More info can be found here: www.311POWWOWFESTIVAL.com. Happy 3-11 Day!

Venus Singing and Dancing on Cruise Ship (AceShowBiz)

Tennis star Venus Williams has showed off her singing and dancing skills while boarding the 311 Caribbean Cruise. The former World No. 1 player did some karaoke in front of the rock band's fans as they cruised from Miami to Turks & Caicos, and her performance has been captured on tape.

A fan of the band herself, the 30-year-old athlete was joined by two other women in singing 311's song "You Wouldn't Believe". Entertaining the crowd, she and her two friends also threw in some choreographed moves. TMZ reported that her group was randomly chosen to be in the karaoke contest, whose judge was the band's lead singer Nick Hexum.

Venus has previously expressed her excitement to sing karaoke on the cruise. On Tuesday, March 1, the older sister of another tennis star Serena Williams tweeted, "Been singin Karaoke around the world for years,Thailand, Japan, Korea,USA...hope this can prepare me for the biggest challenge ever...@311."

311 Announces First Annual 311 Pow Wow Festival (JMusicology)

Anyone who enjoys the music, camping, and unity that summer music festivals such as Bonnaroo have to offer should take note of the recently announced 311 Pow Wow Festival.

The festival will be held on August 4th-6th in the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, a 500 acre campground in a remote area of Northern Florida. 311 will play four full sets over three nights of music, and for the first time ever, the band will be performing their album Transistor in its entirety. The festival will host a full roster of other popular artists that will be announced very soon, according to 311.com. [UPDATE- Sublime w/ Rome and The Dirty Heads have been added to the lineup thus far]

Tickets for the festival go on sale Friday, March 11th and are expected to sell out. 15,000 will be available for purchase with a price of $125 per ticket. Upgraded VIP packages will also be available for groups that wish to maximize their pow wow experience. More ticketing information can be found here.

Although the festival is rather small compared to other festivals such as Bonnarroo and Coachella, it should be an incredible experience not only for 311 fans, but music fans in general. The Suwannee River area is gorgeous and will be a fantastic location for the inaugural Pow Wow Festival. Concert-going music fans all over the country should mark their calendars, pack their gear, and prepare for three days of stress-free musical transcendence.
