311 & Sublime with Rome San Diego-bound (Union-Tribune)

311 and Sublime with Rome are teaming up for the Unity Tour this summer. The two bands will perform here Aug. 19 at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista.

The show is not yet listed on the venue's web site, but it is included in the list of Unity Tour stop on 311's web site and on Sublime with Rome's web site.

A pre-sale for 311 Hive fan club members begins Tuesday. Ticket prices and the on-sale date for the general public have not yet been announced.

The teaming of the two bands seems sound, since both bands seem equally inspired by Jamaica, musically and, um, herbally. Where 311 mixes elements of reggae, metal, rap and funk in its aural brew, Sublime with Rome rocks out with a distinctly ska-inspired flavor.

Sublime with Rome was scheduled to perform here Nov. 12 at Valley View Casino Center (formerly the San Diego Sports Arena), but that show was canceled on Nov. 3 because of scheduling problems.
