311, Sublime with Rome unify for summer tour (SoundSpike)

Nebraska alt-rockers 311 will take to the road this summer on their yearly "Unity Tour," this time with support from Sublime with Rome.

The two-month journey begins July 8 in Bonner Springs, KS, and crisscrosses the nation, touching down in 30 cities from coast to coast. The major market amphitheater run wraps up Aug. 26 in the Seattle area.

This excursion will support 311's forthcoming album, which is still untitled and expected to hit shelves this summer. The outfit unleashed their most recent effort, "Uplifter," in 2009, though the performances will also include hits from their previous discography as well.

Sublime with Rome, comprised of original Sublime members Bud Gaugh (drums) and Eric Wilson (bass) with newcomer Rome (vocals/guitar), is currently hard at work on the new configuration's debut studio album. Producer Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers, Meat Puppets), who handled Sublime's eponymous 1996 hit album, is on board for the effort, which is also due out this summer.

In previous years, 311's "Unity Tour" has featured Snoop Dogg, The Roots, Matisyahu and The Offspring, among others.
