"311 Day" 2010 Coming to Mandalay Bay Events Center March 11 (Vegas News)

Every other year on March 11 the multi-platinum group 311 holds a special concert event attracting thousands of fans worldwide. The event is typically held in New Orleans and as a result, the Mayor of New Orleans officially proclaimed March 11 as “311 Day” in New Orleans. However, next year’s “311 Day” concert will move to the Mandalay Bay Events Center for a performance Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 8 p.m.

Tickets priced at $64.50 and $59.50, not including applicable service charges, go on sale Saturday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. and will be available at all Ticketmaster locations (select Smith’s Food and Drug Centers and Ritmo Latino). Ticket sales are limited to eight (8) per person. To charge by phone with a major credit card, call Mandalay Bay at (877) 632-7400 or Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000. Tickets also will be available for purchase at www.mandalaybay.com or www.ticketmaster.com.

Billed as the ‘ultimate 311 concert experience,’ “311 Day” is the premier event for 311 fans to gather and celebrate their love of the band and to witness an extraordinary show. 311 will play an extended set list (five hours) of hits, rarities, covers and classics; backed by a state-of-the-art light and special effects show. There also is a potential for appearances by circus performers, aerial acrobats, fire twirlers, stilt walkers, drumlines and marching bands.

Every two years, the dedicated 311 fans worldwide consider March 11 a holiday and travel to the “311 Day” show from around the globe. Last year’s five-hour, 63-song “311 Day” performance sold out the New Orleans Arena with more than 14,000 fans representing the United States and 13 countries.

A “Live From New Orleans” DVD of the “311 Day” 2004 show was released in October 2004 and now is certified Platinum. With many music fans having heard about the concert or having seen the DVD the legacy of “311 Day” is now stronger than ever.

311’s current album, Uplifter, was released in June and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200; the band’s highest chart position to date. The Omaha-bred, Los Angeles-based 311 band has released 10 albums and three DVDs, and has sold more than 8.5 million units in the United States. Uplifter is the band’s sixth Top 10 album. The band has had eight singles reach the Top 10 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Chart including the No. 1 hits “Down,” “Love Song” and “Don’t Tread On Me.”
