Unity Tour this weekend, new album next week (Out of the Blue)

The positive, unifying vibes and hip-hop, reggae funk-rock of 311 will return to Columbus this Sun. July 17 at the Lifestyles Community Pavilion (The LC) alongside Sublime with Rome as 311’s ninth-consecutive summer headlining Unity Tour.

Forming in 1990 the band continues to sell-out shows with its incredibly energetic, memorable concerts — a live performance that never gets old, even after being together as a band for 21 years.

311 has sold more than 8.5 million album units, has had six albums reach the Billboard Top 10 Sales Chart and eight singles in the Billboard Top 10 Alternative Chart (including: “Amber,” "Come Original," “Love Song,” “Amber,” “All Mixed Up,” “Hey You.”)

Two days after 311’s stop in Columbus the band will release their new album, Universal Pulse on Tues. July 19 through the band’s own imprint 311 Records with a partnership through ATO Records. The band’s tenth album follows 2009’s Uplifter and was produced by Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi, Motely Crue, Aerosmith) and mixed by 311 drummer Chad Sexton. The album can be purchased online with a variety of package options here.

The five-members recently performed the new album single “Sunset In July” and the band’s 1996 single “Down” and others on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Watch "Sunset In July" video here.

Vocalist/guitarist Nick Hexum, vocalist/dj SA Martinez, lead guitarist Tim Mahoney, drummer Chad Sexton and bassist P-Nut will also stop in Cincinnati on July 16 at Riverbend.

Openers Sublime released the band’s debut album with Rome, Yours Truly, earlier this week with “Panic” as the current lead single. The album can be purchased online here.

Tickets for the 2011 Unity Tour at The LC are $43, gates open at 5:30 p.m.
